Sarah A. O’Brien is a writer, painter, photographer, teacher, and editor.

Sarah earned her MFA in Writing from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in December 2018. She graduated with her BA in Creative Writing from Providence College in May 2015. Sarah studied drawing, Italian literature, and photojournalism in Florence, Italy through CAPA International Education in 2013. Sarah is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Boston Accent Lit, a literary journal featuring emerging and established writers and artists. In May 2019, she released a chapbook of poems, Dancing on a Dead-End Street. Sarah published her full-length poetry book, Shapeshifter, in July 2019. Arkay Artists has acquired Sarah’s chapbook Cozy, which will be published this winter.

Sarah’s writing has appeared in The Flat Water Stirs: An Anthology of Emerging Nebraska Poets, Rose Quartz Journal, Horny Poetry Review, Peach Fuzz Magazine, Vending Machine Press, Helen Literary Magazine, and other publications. She has forthcoming poems in the anthology, Boston (April 2020), and in Grey Borders Magazine (October 2019).

Her paintings and photographs have been published in places such as Third Point Press, Up the Staircase Quarterly, Heather, and Unbroken Journal. She has shown work in the Copley Hall of Art and Hunt-Cavanagh Gallery.
